Ask for the route.
Not just the label.
“Accessible” can mean different things. Confirm the complete journey with the operator before booking.
Accommodation
Ask for the route from vehicle drop-off to reception, the room and dining areas. Confirm step counts, lift dimensions, door widths, bathroom layout and whether any temporary works affect access. Request current photographs if they help you assess suitability.
Beaches
Check the surface from parking to the shore, gradients, adapted toilets and the exact sea-entry equipment. Ask whether assistance is available, on which dates and hours, and whether advance booking is required. A sandy or shallow beach is not automatically accessible.
Historic towns
Ask about slopes, steps, polished stone and the closest legal drop-off. A central address may still require carrying bags. Build a route that fits your own mobility, stamina and sensory needs.
Parks & outdoor routes
Confirm the specific route, boardwalk width, gradients, rest points and any accessible transport. Conditions and closures can change. Ask the park directly rather than relying on a destination-wide label.
Transport
Tell the operator what assistance or equipment space you need before booking. Confirm the boarding arrangement at both ends and on the exact service—not simply the company’s general policy.
Our current verification standard
Explore Croatia does not yet provide audited accessibility ratings. Guides identify questions and known constraints; individual suitability must be confirmed with the operator.
